Meet the Royal Queen Neptunia! This feisty baby girl came in weighing barely a pound in December, so we welcomed her into our home as a foster to get her up to weight and socialize her with people. At first she was incredibly scared (she had been trapped and brought in), but over a bit of time, she warmed up and became very affectionate on her own terms. Neptunia is very skittish of new noises, and will spook herself with her own shadow. She loves her toys; so much so that she doesn’t want to share them and doesn’t want you to take play time away. Patience is a virtue; she will try to scratch and bite if she thinks play time is ending too soon, pinning her ears back and growling. If you allow her time to wear herself out, she will let you pick her up and even cuddle. This is why we do not recommend children or inexperienced cat owners. She becomes very defensive and scared with fast movements and loud noises. Too much stimulation can lead to an accident with children where she could potentially hurt them because she is nervous or scared. She is not the sort of kitten that will instantly become accustomed to a new environment or other cats; it will take weeks for her to feel safe and show all of her true colors. Queen Neptunia is up to date on her vaccines for her age, is FELV and FIV negative, and is already spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee would be $40 or less, depending on the current shelter promotion. If you are interested in meeting the Queen, please email her foster mom at Gwen.bulinski@ocfl.net.
