Meet Princess Leia! She's a stunning tabby girl with enormous green eyes and a loving, gentle personality. Leia wants nothing more than to be petted and adored. She will push her head against your hand and pat you with her paw when she wants attention. If you are looking for a sweet, calm companion to keep you company on the couch and snuggle when you sleep, Leia is the perfect kitty for you. She also loves being brushed - it's one of her favorite things! She's currently sharing the foster room with an adult male cat (another sweetheart who is also available for adoption!) and they get along really well. So she'd probably be fine with other cats who are accepting of a new cat into their home.

Leia was surrendered by her family because she was not using her litter box all the time. There were two reasons for this: 1: the family got a large, hyper dog who made Leia very nervous, and 2. (and probably the real reason) they declawed her, leaving her paws very sensitive to litter. Declawing cats is illegal in many states and countries; sadly it is not illegal in Florida. It is an extremely invasive surgery that amputates the end of the cat's toes and often leaves them in pain for the rest of their lives. Fortunately Leia doesn't have trouble walking or jumping on things, so she's most likely just got some toe sensitivity. Before surrendering Leia, the family did take her to the vet and have bloodwork done which showed she's very healthy.

When Leia came into foster we put a litter box full of shredded newspaper in the foster cat room - and she's never once going potty outside of it! She needs a very soft substance to dig in, not regular litter or pellets. That being said, Leia needs a home with people who will understand if she occasionally makes a 'mistake' - though we haven't seen that here and she's been with us for two months. Leia is not shy at all once she gets to know you, but she would probably be best in a calm home environment without small children or rowdy dogs.

Leia is vibrant, healthy (though she could lose a couple of pounds!), and ready for her forever home today.

Leia is spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccines and bloodwork. Her adoption fee is $50.

Our foster home is 5 miles south of downtown Orlando. Also please let me know a bit about yourself, too, such as if you have children and other pets. I want to make sure we have a good fit for you and the kitty.

Before considering adopting a cat, PLEASE be sure that pets are permitted where you leave by checking with your landlord or leasing office if applicable.
