Update -- Feb 19, 2011- Buttercup has been adopted along with buddy Sly!!  Thank you Trish & Tallon for welcoming these 2 cuties into your family!!

Hi there, I'm Buttercup and I'm sweet as butter!!  And I'm absolutely gorgeous and have the silkiest, softest coat you could hope to touch!  I'm a very playful girl and also LOVE attention!

I'm considered "special needs" due to I tested positive for Feline Aids (FIV). There is a chance it is a false positive but even if I do have FIV, with appropriate care I can live a long and healthy life.  When I say "appropriate care" I don't mean anything fancy, just care that we hope for for any kitten or cat -- and that is to be kept indoors so I'm not exposed to dangers of the outdoors, and good nutrition (nothing special-- just good quality kitten/cat food)!

If there are 3 things you need to know about having an FIV cat they are:

1)  FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or other non-felines.

2. FIV cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all.

3. FIV is not easily passed between cats. It can not be spread casually - i.e. in litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling and playing. It can be spread through blood transfusions, badly infected gums, or serious, penetrating bite wounds. (Bite wounds of this kind are extremely rare, except in free-roaming, unneutered tomcats.)

For more info regarding FIV please visit our FIV information page:  http://kindnessforcats.rescuegroups.org/info/display?PageID=9676

And here are a couple of other good resources

So I'm hoping that someone will give me a chance to have a happy long life, are you that special person??  My adoption fee is only $40. Please email for more information.
